Why is the running plan giving me nothing but "Base" workouts?

I've selected a 10K race to prepare for using the Garmin coaching but even though my "plan" says I am in "build" phase, it sends nothing but base workouts my way (even though I am keeping all my runs within the time parameters it gives me).  Really kind of frustrating that it isn't more responsive.  

  • It takes a couple of weeks to move on from Base training. It also depends of your previous ability and how the watch perceives your evolution in the Base training phase. Base training is really that, just like a pyramid is the biggest part of your training and if done correctly you'll improve just with the Base training. Intervals will come eventually.
