FR165 - Bluetooth keeps disconnecting from headphones every couple of minutes.

Hi, just bought a new FR165 from Sigma Sports in the UK.

I am able to pair my Sony wh-1000xm3 headphones, but it then disconnects every couple of minutes. Spoitify pauses as a result, I go to Spotify on the watch, hit play and it searches and connects to the headphones again. I went on a 25min run yesterday and it disconnected about 8 times.

So far I've tried:

- unpairing headphones and pairing again
- rebooting watch and headphones
- checking that battery saver is OFF on watch

Nothing has worked so far. 


I've used these headphones for years with many devices and have never had a single issue so I can only assume that the Garmin is the problem. 

I like the watch but if I can't get this working soon then I will be returning. 

Any help would be great.

  • I can't help directly but the one thing that put me off buying the Music edition was reading reports of flaky connectivity issues with headphones, suspected to be down to a weak bluetooth signal. I guess this would make sense as it ordinarily would only be required to sync with your phone (nearby) and the syncing protocol can presumably deal with intermittent connectivity without you even knowing about. Obviously a different story when listening to music though.
