Peloton with the 165?

Hi All,

Just getting ready to buy my first Garmin product and wanted to confirm that my planned choice is ok.

In short, I'm looking to buy the FR165 for use with my Peloton Bike+.  My objective is to see information such as my heartrate and other general stats.  I'd also like to see things like my fitness age etc in the Garmin app.  I don't need advanced cycling specific stats like power bars, just basic stuff.

Any reason the FR165 isn't a good choice for this?

Ty and cheers.

  • Hi , I'm happy to hear that you're looking to buy your first Garmin watch! Please see Do Garmin Watches or Cycling Computers Work With Peloton Bikes?

As long as your Peloton bike is Bluetooth/ANT+ compatible, you can broadcast your heart rate data. Besides heart rate, you wouldn't be able to see any other stats from the watch.

As far as keeping track of the activities in the Garmin Connect app, I'd recommend recording an Indoor Cycling activity on the watch. You'd set the HR from the watch to broadcast so you can see it on the Peloton. After you stop and save the activity, you'd have to use the data recorded on the Peloton to manually edit the activity after it's been synced. You can add the distance, speed, etc. that was recorded on the Peloton.

To Edit the activity in Connect:

    1. Open the Connect app
    2. Tap on More
    3. Tap on Activities
    4. Tap on All activities
    5. Select the recently synced cycling activity
    6. Select the menu in the upper Right corner
    7. Select Edit Activity
    8. Enter the desired values
    9. Tap Save

This will be the case for any of our watches. Let me know if you have any further questions!
