Probably your device is connected to the phone and tries to download the update via Bluetooth. As the connection is not reliable it makes device re-start this process. Recently timezone map v37 was released, probably that was a reason. Recommend to use Garmin Express.
Also do not forget to reboot phone and watch after any software update installed.
