Tacx NEO Bike Smart Drive Chain Noise

Hi

I was lucky enough to source a Bike in early Feb 21 and was blown away by its performance and silent operation. Unfortunately after about 6 weeks use it started to develop a noise from the drive chain which has become progressively worse. It is present when under load and when freewheeling.

It also suffers from intermittent cut out on the USB power points, but I could have lived with that for a period of time.

Garmin Support have advised the whole bike needs to be replaced but cant offer a replacement until these are re-stocked in mid June 21 (c 12wks wait!!!). I am currently totally reliant of the use of a trainer (like most of us?) so the option to return and wait for a replacement does not work for me.

Whilst the Garmin Support team I have dealt with have been helpful to a point, they have not been able to provide any technical advice for the following questions

As the timescale to a likely replacement is so far off are there any interim fixes I could try that may lessen the noise and allow continued use:

  • Tighten drive belt tension (specialist tool required?)
  • Replace drive belt
  • Check flywheel housing for foreign objects (specialist tool required?)

The noise is getting progressively worse, do you think it will eventually fail before replacement arrives?

Any advice would be gratefully received. I'm kinda hoping if this is monitored by Tacx NL technical staff who maybe able to assist to make the bike usable in the 3 month period of waiting for the replacement?

Thanks
