Neo 3M+Alpine does not work with Rouvy

Hi

I recently upgraded to a Tacx Neo 3M + Alpine combo.

The Alpine is paired to the Neo, and the Neo 3M in turn is connected to a PC (Windows 11) via Bluetooth.

Thing is, while the Neo seems to be working properly, I can’t get the Alpine to change gradients automatically in either Workout or "Just Ride" mode.

I reached out to Rouvy technical support and they confirmed that Rouvy does *not* currently work with the Tacx Neo 3M + Alpine but that they're working on it (presumably with Garmin/Tacx).

Anything else that I can try in the meantime?

  • Is alpin+3M currently using Bluetooth on Rouvy? does it work well?

  • Does not work with BT... use your tacx mobile app and connect to the 3M.. goto the settings and make sure ANT connection is enabled.. it will function with ANT connection.. but currently that is the only way...

  • It currently does not work at all with all latest software updated.

I got in contact with ROUVY support, they acknowledged, that Alpine was not supported and after asking for a roadmap for such support, they said they would come back after synching internally. No answer back yet.

  • It never did work unless it was on ANT connection for me.. I rode lastnite on the Rad Dirt Colorado gravel course and it worked perfectly fine in ANT/FEC mode on all the climbs and descents.. you need to make sure ANT is made active in the mpbile app.. the last 3M firmware update shut off the ABT connection. so connect your trainer via tacx mobile app BT connection, then in the settings enable ANT... if you have an ANT dongle it should work (I use the Tacx one) The problem is not with the tacx side of the things, the problem is when rouvy back engineered the zwift shifting its messing with the BT signalbeing sent from the 3M to the Alpine...Ive been telling them this doesnt work months ago, but no one is doing anything with it...  ts important to if you use the ANT connection that both the selectable power source (Neo 3M) and the controllable trainer (Neo 3M) are BOTH on ant connection.. take either off the ANT connection and go Wifi or BT and it will not work...

  • Over the weekend instead of jumping straight onto the turbo I decided to tinker around with the various connection modes. Here's what works and doesn't for me.

In all cases the Alpine is paired to the Neo 3M via Bluetooth. There is no direct connection to the PC or any other app.

As Chris says, if Power Source, Cadence and Controllable Trainer are all connected to Rouvy via ANT+ FE-C then gradient simulation works on all rides *except* workouts.

In workout mode even with a ANT+ FE-C connection there is no gradient simulation. I did not try turning ERG off to see if it would somehow activate gradient simulation.

With the Neo 3M connected via a BT connection, no gradient simulation even with latest Garmin firmware updates and Rouvy's latest (as at 20251101) hotfix.

Unfortunately as I run a Zwift Cog / Click virtual shifting setup that Rouvy supports *only* with a BT connection to the Neo, I am back to square one: use ANT+ and I get gradient simulation BUT lose virtual shifting (which makes rides and workouts almost impossible), or use BT and lose gradient simulation (but have everything else work).

So I'm now back to a BT connection and waiting for Rouvy to get their act together.

I guess the solution is to pester Rouvy until they decide to un-bork their BT connection to the Neo 3M.

  • That's what I did and plan on doing... I like Rouvy as an App better, but their "virtual shifting" seems to be buggy, and the missing support for Alpine is just a joke. Back to Zwift's Mickey Mouse graphics, but full support...
