Hi,
sometimes besides following training plans, I also ride real routes on my Trainer. I usually download them from Komoot or Outdooractive and ride them just for fun or to test my current fitness level.
However, I often notice that the gradient isn’t correctly transmitted by the trainer. For example, on my Edge 1040 I can see a red section on the map, and I also know that this part is steep (from photos, Komoot, and reports). But the Edge only shows a gradient of about 3–4%, even though in reality it should be around 8–10%. It also feels like only a slight incline instead of a steep one.
On other parts of the route, the trainer sometimes lags behind — it reacts very slowly to inclines or descents.
That’s quite annoying. I usually download the route directly from Komoot to the Edge, where it appears under “Courses.” Then I start it using my indoor cycling profile with the Tacx Neo 2T connected.
Could the problem be related to how I load the route? Or is it an issue with the trainer? I doubt it’s the routes themselves, since it also happens when I re-ride routes I’ve recorded myself.
Thanks for any insight! :)
