Why does the Neo 2T go into perpetual montion after connecting the Zwift Play?

Since connecting the Zwift Play controlers the flywheel on the trainer does not stop moving unless you close the Zwift app.  In gear 24 it moves slowly and in gear 1 it's way over 60 rpm.  In gear 24 you can apply pressure to the flywheel with your hands to make it stop, but it takes a lot of pressure.  The slightest movent will start it up again.   All apps and controlers are on the latest firmware. I'm not using the Cog and Click.  Only the Zwift Play.

The Play, Rally Pedals, Trainer, and HRM are all connected via Zwift Companion running on an iPhone 6.  The game controler is an Apple TV 32Gb..

  • Mine did this tonight. I just put on a Zwift Cog and Zwift Click and did my first ride.  After I did a TrainerRoad workout on Zwift and ended my ride, the flywheel kept spinning until I unplugged my Neo 2T.

  • From the testing I’ve done, the ZP and now the ZC engage the motor in the Neo. As you go higher in a virtual gear, the flywheel moves slower. The lower the virtual gear the faster the flywheel goes.  This of course is not a desirable or expected behaviour.   I can see this being useful to adjust the physical gears on the bike. Which can also be done in the Tacx App by setting a 5% decline grade which produces the same effect.
This is why I feel the virtual gearing is applying power to the motor on the Neo 2T.  I don’t have a 3 to the same problem.

  • One more note.  Try stopping the flywheel with your hands and see if that works.  Maybe wear a leather glove if your fingers aren’t callused. It takes a bit of pressure.  See if the flywheel stays stopped once this is done.  It you gently spin the flywheel again, you should see the same behaviour.

I have not unplugged and plugged it back in.  I’ll try that tomorrow.

  • Quick update. I’ve removed the trainer from all apps and unplugged it.  Then restarted and re-paired everything.  The behavior appears to be back to normal.  Flywheel stops when it should.

another friend suggested there is a post which I have not found yet that states.
reset the Neo to factory reset.  Remove all connections on all devices.  Update the firmware on the Neo. Reconnect all apps etc.

Good luck.  I’ll let you know if it misbehaves again.
