Hi, I have tried juergenleber's solution,
SHIFTR on github. The experience has been in two races and two freerides. In my case it has been very positive. No delay in gear shifting and resistance adjustment…
I’m a bit confused why Garmin has to do anything at all. Isn’t virtual gearing just Zwift sending different resistance levels to the trainer? I don’t think the control interface is that sophisticated.…
I'm using a neo 2 se and I am too concerned about virtual shifting.
I don't need the cog as I can just get a straight chainline with the cassette and would enjoy virtual shifting.
More and more brands…
You should be able to adapt this approach very very easily. https://zwiftinsider.com/bluetooth-eracing-controller/
Personally I've sold my Neo, tired of waiting for virtual shifting, wifi and garmin to improve the inertia.... but there is much about my Neo that I miss.
We are excited to share that firmware updates supporting virtual shifting in Zwift are now available.
By using a Tacx NEO 2T or 3M paired with Zwift Cog and Click, cyclists can enjoy smooth, silent virtual shifting while training, racing or riding on Zwift. This update also adds Race Mode for faster response in Zwift, and when using the Tacx Training App riders can track their trainer mileage with the virtual odometer.
To install the latest firmware on your trainer, use the Tacx Training mobile app.
See our announcement here: Garmin and Zwift announce expanded integration for Tacx NEO 2T and 3M
Note: This software feature update is also available for the Tacx NEO 2; however, older NEO 2 trainers may not be compatible to mount Zwift's Ride Smart Frame.
That's great new Clayton! Will test it asap and if everything is fine I'll retire my SHIFTR project on GitHub and continue with the successor that allows to connect 2T and 3M via Ethernet or WiFi to Zwift and other training apps. Teaser: It will allow you to additionally connect ANT+ sensors (e.g. heart rate) and use them via Ethernet/WiFi so using an Apple TV is not an issue anymore.
oh baby hallelujah
Fantastic news. I might just have to go and buy a Neo 2T again as I sold it last October due to lack of updates from Garmin. GP Lama review said it’s the best virtual experience he has tested so far.
