Tacx Neo 2T problem with flywheel - flywheel is wobbling

Hi,

I purcased my Tacx Neo 2T in 2020. In total I cycled approx. 7k km. Now I realised that my flywheel is wobbling. Hope that wobbling is the proper word as English is foreign language for me.

With wobbling I mean that it is moving from side to side instead of spinning smoothly in a stable manner.

I filmed the wobbling but I think there is no possibilty to upload the video here.

Is this a common issue and what is your recommandation? Should I buy a new bearing and replace it? Or is it the freehub?

Thank you all and regards,

Rita

  • A wobbling flywheel on your Tacx Neo 2T after 7000km is unfortunately not uncommon. While it's difficult to diagnose without seeing the issue, it's likely a bearing or internal component issue.

    Here's what you can do:

    • Contact Tacx Support: They have expertise and might offer troubleshooting steps or warranty options.
    • Check for Loose Parts: Carefully inspect the trainer for any loose components that could be causing the wobble.
    • Consider Professional Repair: If you're not comfortable disassembling the trainer, a bike mechanic might be able to diagnose and fix the issue.

Replacing the bearing or freehub yourself is generally not recommended unless you have experience with bike mechanics. These components are often specialized and require specific tools.

  • I send the Neo 2T via a certified distributor to  Tacx/Garmin because that is recommended by Garmin. At their website the offer repairs . In my case  Garmin offered me a refurbished Neo 2T for 500€. Unfortunately Tacx/ Garmin Support is refusing to check the problem and repair the Neo 2T. I agree with you. Apparently a wobbling flywheel is not uncommon and most likely the bearing has to be replaced. Now I have to decide if I pay the 500€ or take the smarttrainer back and find someone how changes the bearing.

I purchased several Garmin devices over the last 10 years and spend approx. 4K€ but for sure this was my last Garmin device. Thank you Garmin support for nothing!
