Transfer gpx data from Tacx course to Garmin 1040

Is it possible to load the gpx route with elevation/etc from a Tacx training app film, and have them synch during the ride?

  • It is possible (when I last tried it nearly two years ago) in a round about way and the resulting track on the Edge 1040 will not be clean:

    1. Ride the film in the Tacx Training app.
    2. Save the ride.
    3. Allow the activity to sync to Garmin Connect.
    4. Open the activity in Garmin Connect:
      1. In Garmin Connect Mobile for Android tap the three vertical dots (upper right) menu and select Send Course to Device.
      2. In Garmin Connect Web click the cog icon (upper right) and select Send Course to Device.
    5. Sync your Edge 1040 with Garmin Connect to transfer the course.

Unfortunately the track that is sent to your Edge 1040, unless they have improved it recently, is not very clean and will contain a lot of duplicated track points. If you need a clean track then it will need to be run through an external editor that is capable of removing the duplicates.

  • I have done the opposite many times

either take one of my summer rides or create a ride elsewhere and move to the Tacx training app and ride it

the mapping is a bit crazy sometimes as it compresses elevation graphics in a strange way but gives you a view like you would get on a vehicle gps display

you still get the resistance for hills etc
