Hello all, and thank you for your participation on this topic.
As many users have pointed out, Zwift's virtual shifting feature relies on more than just the connected smart trainer (in this case, the NEO…
Garmin,
We need this update! Please update the Firmware to include virtual shifting.
thanks
As per the response from GPlama we as a community need to request this from Tacx...................... COME ON Garmin/Tacx get on with enabling virtual shifting
Garmin's decision to implement virtual gearing exclusively on their new models, seemingly pushing users towards making a purchase, risks alienating customers and leaving a negative impression. While I understand that mid to low-end smart trainers may lack the hardware capability for such updates, the NEO2T certainly can handle it. It's frustrating to wait for Garmin to consider listening to their users' feedback.
This is basic stuff, please implement this ASAP. No one with a NEO will pay for the minimal upgrade to NEO 3M or insert next gen, there's no justification for the cost.
This would be amazing if my 2T supported virtual shifting. Lets hope Garmin listens to the community!
I think we need to accept that Smart/Indoor Trainers are not Garmin's main product segment, we can see that watches and bike computers get regular updates and new models.
Unfortunately since buying Tacx the speed of development on these trainers has slowed, especially compared to the competition who's main business is trainers, eg. Wahoo, Elite, even Jetblack, Magene, etc. The Neo was once way ahead of the game, but is not slowly falling further and further behind.
With virutally shifting becoming the norm, option for climb features, etc the indoor market is becoming very interesting, unfortunately we who invested in Tacx may be getting left behind.
I like Garmin, I have top end watches and bike computer from them, but unfortunately indoor trainers doesn't appear to be their priority, which makes sense, it's probably a very small market with limited growth potenial compared to bike computers and consumer watches.
