Neo 2T ant+ FE-C communication protocol and tacx trainer mobile app not working.

With the tacx trainer mobile application I don't detect the Neo2T with the ant+ communication protocol. The home trainer is not detected by both Samsung Galaxy s5e tablet and Samsung S10 smartphone, which both support ant+ communication. But even if I use Garmin's external antstick, Neo2T is not detected. With the desktop application, however, everything is OK and I can also use the trainer in simulation using the ant+ FE-C protocol. Furthermore, when I connect the trainer to Rouvy on both Android mobile devices and Windows PC, the trainer works normally in simulation with the ant+ protocol but the green light on the trainer remains off. Can anyone do some tests to confirm that the tacx app mobile application no longer connects ant+ FE-C with the trainer and that the green light of the trainer stays off when connected to third party applications?

Thanks

Fabio

  • There is an app in the Google Play Store named 'ANT Tester'. Install this app to see exactly what level of ANT+ support your specific Samsung devices have. This is the results for a Google Pixel 6 Pro:

Because the Pixel 6 Pro has no direct ANT support, and I don't have a USB ANT dongle, I can't do any testing for you.

As for the ANT+ FE-C green light on the trainer all I can say is that in my experience it illuminates on initial connection of the controlling device but will then turn off after a while. This was with an Edge 820, Edge 1030 Plus, and fenix 6X.

  • my two devices support ant+ this is not in question. Thanks for the green light feedback with the garmin edges. Don't you have the possibility to try the tacx trainer mobile app in ant+ mode?

Unfortunately not. To be able to use ANT+ FE-C on the Google Pixel 6 Pro I would need an Android OTG compatible ANT+ USB dongle. As I don't have one I can only use Bluetooth.

All my indoor riding is done using my Edge 1030 Plus to control my Tacx NEO 2T. I only keep the Tacx Training app on my phone for the administration tools it inherited from the depricated Tacx Utility app.

I do have an old HMD Global Nokia 7 Plus that has limited support for ANT+. Unfortunately, due to poor quality USB-C port HMD Global fitted, charging is very unreliable but if I can get it to charge I will try the Tacx Training app on it and report back.

  • Thank you.

I hope there is some user who has the opportunity to do this test. Many Samsung and Sony phones integrate the ant+ communication protocol. I have to check if is Garmin that hasn't updated its instruction manuals ( support.garmin.com/.../ ) or is my neo 2T that has problems.

  • With the tacx trainer mobile application I don't detect the Neo2T with the ant+ communication protocol.

TTA, unlike TDA, does not support the ANT+ FE-C protocol.

TTA, at least in older versions, only supported the old proprietary ANT+ protocol for old wireless non-smart models from Tacx.

  • Aaaah! Thank you very much

  • On Samsung s9 ant+ protocol the tacx trainer application dont’t mach the trainer Neo2t.

  • Thank you for feedback!
