Cadence details from the Windows App in Garmin Connect

The Windows app shows L/R balance and a lot of information about my cadence and strokes patterns. However, none of this shows up in Garmin Connect which is a bit of a disappointment as I would like that information for analysis later and not just displayed on the fly whilst cycling. Anything that can be added, like the power meters track?

  • I agree. Garmin if you read this request, please, the data taken through the Windows Tacx application, insert them fully into the connect connect report

  • The file-format in the former Tacx app is .tcx ( trainingcenter xml) and is from....Garmin!. The format has no tages for the asked information. So, Garmin has to rewrite the software for a fit-file format and add the mentioned information. As you can guess, that  will cost some hours.

  • There is a Garmin Support Center Article titled 'Pedal Stroke Analysis With a Tacx Smart Trainer'.

The first paragraph of this article states:

"With a Tacx NEO 2, NEO 2T, NEO Bike, or NEO Bike Plus connected to the Tacx Desktop app (Windows only) you will see a live Left/Right (L/R) pedal analysis widget on the screen. This pedal stroke analysis data will not be saved for later viewing in the Tacx Desktop app or in your Garmin Connect account."

From what I have read in other discussions on this it is debatable as to how much that information would be useful. A hub based power meter, which in effect the Tacx NEO 2T is, cannot directly measure what is happening at the pedals and can only infer it based on its cadence sensor data.

  • The Tacx makes an estimate of the position of the cranck when it signals an end ( begin) of an revolution.  There maybe some slight fault in that value.

The Tacx is not to be compared to a single sided powermeter, as it measures all the angels of the cranck. I can live with the assumption that my legs are only givng power to the cranck when moving down.
