FIRMWARE UPDATE FAILS ON NEW TACX NEO 2T (OCT 2022)

NEO 2T FAILING TO UPDATE FIRMWARE ON FIRST USE.

New out of the box after all mechanical setup the Neo 2T connected immediately with the Tacx training App. Then I attempted to update the firmware from 0.0.37 to 0.0.38 as shown available in the Tacx training App. Once I selected the update, it went to a screen saying at the top "installing firmware" and below a warning not to close the app or shut down the trainer. An hour later this hadn't changed.

Solution; 

Disconnected the App from the trainer and closed the APP.

Removed electrial power from the trainer for 1 minute.

Powered up the trainer > red lights blink > then steady

Opened the App and selected the trainer > blue light comes on

Go to settings and attempt firmware update again > NOW the App screen changed and showd upload progress with a growing circle and then completed succesfully.

    An excellent response and thank you. I just got a NEO 2T unboxed it went to the app and started the firmware update only for it to stop on "Bootlocker" I was worried I had bricked my new trainer but followed your instructions as well as cleared the app cache, restarted my phone, disconnected my Garmin watch and then proceeded as above. It started loading and then applying the new firmware and 10 mins later I was on the trainer riding. Phew what a relief!

    In my case, app crashes when I select "update" (iOS app). If I'm trying the same thing but from Mac application - app hangs.

    In 2024 am still having the same problem with this update. Clearly Garmin dont give a damn in fixing the glitches. I turn everythung off and restart and each time. It then moves another hour round the clock before rebooting. On my sixth delete app and restart. Hope to get there eventually …….. Garmin purchasing Tacx was the worst thing ever. Am co sidering Wahoo as replacement dur to pour service. The Tacx Neo Smart is a super machine …. Mime is six years old and still going strong

    Now at 8pm on the eighth shutdown and restart. This 3:08 uploading is either very slow considering I have fibre, or seriously defective

    SUMMRY So for the update 0.0.38 that was launched in 2022 Garmin seems not to have fixed the bugs in 9/2024!!!  You may experience it stopping on the uploading, ignore their warning and Force Quit their app and start it again. I. My case each if the twelve times it uploaded an Hour round the clock and then stopped. After twelve stop starts I got to twelve o’clock and then the download was complete and the Application if the software went extremely smoothly and quickly. If you Tacx does not connect on restarting the boot/upload then simply unplug and replug it. I tied the .38 upgrade on Zwift. It works fine.
