L/R power vs balance w Edge 1000?

I have a Neo 2T that I've just started using an Apple TV with (Bluetooth), and at the same time my Edge 1000 (ANT+). It's my understanding that support for the 2T varies between Edge units/generations so I'm wondering if someone can confirm. I am interested in seeing independent power measurements to train with powercranks (decoupled Left/Right crankarms). I have seen two key statements online: 2T only send this information over Bluetooth, and (somewhat conflicting) you can get this information by pairing the unit as a power meter and not an ANT-CEC trainer. Since the 1000 won't pair with the 2T over Bluetooth (only ANT+), I disabled the pairing as a trainer and re-paired the 2T as a power meter. I can now see power, cadence, and balance with this configuration, but I am not seeing independent power readings.

Can anyone confirm seeing independent power readings with newer Edge units and the 2T? I see data fields showing 'PP' which I assume means "Pedal Power", but are they only applicable to the Garmin Vector power meter pedals?

For training platforms I'm so far evaluating RGT and Fulgaz, will soon sign back up for Rouvy, and probably will try out Zwift (but am not into virtual racing). So far I'm not seeing any apps that show independent L/R power measurement - anyone know of any? I haven't tried the Tacx app yet because it's not available on Apple TV, my iPhone is locked down for work, my Galaxy View tablet is now outdated (new app versions are refusing to load), and I have a new Samsung Galaxy arriving soon (eventually).

  • "Added cycling dynamics support for 3rd party power sensors."  this feature is missing from Edge 1000, it is the reason why it doesnt work for you. It is added only to 520plus/820 and newer Garmins, with those it "works".

Btw, the balance and L/R power of the 2T is an estimation, not a true balance, only the dual-sided pedal-based powermeters can you give true L/R power data so imho pointless to see these values from 2T...
