Connection between Tacx Neo 2T and Zwift - Extra connection needed?

Hello,

I have been using the Neo 2T in combination with the Tacx Training App for some time now.
My Strava account is connected to my Garmin account, so the workouts I'm doing now are automatically uploaded into Strava.

Now I would like to use Zwift as well.

Do I have to link my Zwift account to Strava again, or are the training sessions via Zwift automatically registered in my Garmin account when using the Neo, and therefore automatically uploaded in Strava?

Thanks in advance.

  • My Strava is linked to my Garmin Connect and picks up every activity (.FIT file) uploaded there (rides, walks, jump roping, kitesurfing, etc.).

If you sync your Zwift account with Garmin Connect and not Strava, the above will take place and sync for you. If you sync your Zwift with both Garmin and Strava, then you might think you'd get a duplicate activity posted, but in my experience Strava checks for such a thing before blindly double-posting.

Whatever data is in the .FIT file should be passed from Garmin Connect to Strava without filtering, but you may want to experiment, in case Zwift sends some kind of additional data to Strava when directly connected. (Frankly I would doubt this, because Garmin Connect tends to dissect .FIT file data better than Strava does, for example, my jumprope activities show Running Dynamics-based data whereas Strava just says it's a workout and shows my heart rate, and just today I got Left/Right balance working on my Neo 2T but only saw it displayed on Garmin Connect while Strava ignored it).

  • I just checked my settings.

In Zwift I have connections to both Strava and Garmin. I have never had double entries.

  • Just be aware that you may get different data/metrics depending on which method you use.

If you send Zwift data direct to Strava, you may see different data than Zwift to Garmin, or Zwift to Garmin to Strava. Both the amount of parameters shown (dist, speed, power, etc) and their values may vary.

You may want to experiment with a few test sessions to see which you prefer.

Note it gets even more varied if you are also recording with a head unit like a Garmin Edge at the same time ("dual recording"). This method however will probably give you the most performance metrics as it will add a lot of heartrate-based parameters that you will not get from Zwift.
