Bike stay rubbing on trainer case?

I have a NEO 2T mated to a 2006 Specialized Roubaix that has a 9 speed cassette.  Based on Tacx videos posted online and feedback from my LBS, I used two thin spacers to help ensure that the cassette is installed properly and doesn't slip.  I noticed, however, that the stay on the non-chain side rests against the trainer case (see image).  This doesn't appear to affect the functioning of the trainer, but I can see where it's rubbing against the case.

Is this normal; or is there are there's I should make to this setup to mitigate the issue?

thanks,

 Randy

  • Hey Randy.

I’m learning myself that bike frame fit issues are the Achilles Heel of the NEO design. Fortunately, most of them seem solvable.

On my bike, I had to install a 2.7mm silver spacer behind the non-drive-side (NDS) axle adaptor. This pushes the chainstay just far enough out to clear the trainer. More on that here: https://tacxfaqx.com/knowledge-base/neo-disc-brake-spacer/

On the drive-side (DS) or “chain side” as you call it, I had to install both a 1mm and 0.5mm spacer to ensure derailleur clearance with my 11-speed cassette but I suspect that isn’t a problem with a 9-speed cassette.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the response and the link to the article about the spacer...that looks like it may do the trick.

        Best,
