TACX 2T NEO resistance problem

I just purchased a TACX NEO 2T and i cannot use it at all.

As soon i get over 4% climb, it is impossible for me to pedal.

The resistance is too hard despite I am relative fit and on the road i can climb 21% mountains.....

I have updated the firmate to version 0.0.38

What i should do to solve the problem? It is possible to get advice from GARMIN/TACX team to address and solve the issue?

I notice that I am not the only one to have such problem and it is not clear to me if I have wasted 1300€ or not!!

  • What are you using to control the gradient/resistance of your Tacx Neo 2T?

I use an Edge 1030 Plus (and occasionally a fēnix 6X to control my Tacx Neo 2T. I have ridden simulated gradients of at least 20%. One thing I have discover on higher gradients if you stall (i.e come to a complete stop) in too high a gear it can be near impossible to start moving again. This is a good replication of what would happen in the real world except in the real world there are ways to get moving again that are not available on a trainer.

  • Hi Scillonian. Thanks for the advice. I am desperate!!!

I am using the Tacx App. I have tried both the Android and the PC version.
I have no way to adjust the gradient/resistance on the Tacx Neo 2T. The Tacx App on Android and on PC shows only the Road feel indicator that i have set to 0 value.

I saw on some youtube tutorial that it should have such indicator but I dont' have it.

  • I have tried both the Android and the PC version.

TDA and TTA are not currently a reliable tool for checking the performance of a trainer. Almost every new update contains new bugs. Try any other third party app.

A likely solution to the problem may also be to install any of the previous firmware versions. But this method must also be approached very carefully, since the firmware update (or downgrade) is carried out on the same unreliable mobile application.

  • Do you have your weight and the bike weight set correctly in the apps?

I don't know about trainer control using Bluetooth but with ANT+ FE-C (Edge 1030 Plus, fēnix 6X) these weights are used in the setting of the resistance of the virtual flywheel to simulate real world inertia.

  • I have this same problem in real life on a 5% grade and higher I go at least 20 km/h and am sitting down in my saddle but on this thing I am grinding away at 3 km/h and having to stand up and use all my 225 lbs bodyweight to get the crank go down it is insanely more difficult than real life. Also there is no difference between 5.0% and 20.0% it is all just max resistance from 5.0% and up. I am trying to get all the tacx badges but this problem makes it very miserable.

  • I'm having resistance problems too. I'm using a forerunner 955 to load workouts I create in garmin connect. Some days it's fine, some days zone 1 feels like z6 and to keep cadence going at any number is a struggle right off the bat. When is garmin going to fix this? I've had this issue on and off for 5 years.
