Different data between reportings from my forerunner 945 and the recordet data by the Tacx Desktop app

When I make a training on my Neo 2T with the Tacx desktop app I regulary record it in addition by my forerunner 945.

I don't understand why the reportings are so different. My reportings from the forerunner don't contain any altitude and card data. My reportings from the Tacx-App don't contain data to the training effect or the cycling dynamics.

I bought my Neo 2T because I have wanted to stay in the "garmin world" (all my devices are garmin devices) and I have expected, the intercommunion between all garmin products is very well (all reportings are identical).

Is there any solution possible?

Thanks

Martin

  • I do not use the Tacx Desktop App, but I do use Zwift, and there are many good reasons for different data to be recorded by a watch. (or bike computer) compared to a simulated world of gradients and other things in the Zwift world. Explanation for differences can be found here....

    https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/indoor-training/f/tacx-neo-2t-898484771/260874/tacx-neo-2t-zwift-versus-edge-1030

I suspect it is similar for your example. In addition you are expecting features from the watch (like Training Effect) to appear in or from the TDA. If they do not then I suspect it is down to history, where FirstBeat metrics were licenced to certain devices, like watches, but not included in software acquired from third party suppliers such as Tacx.

The watch only records data that it is sent by the trainer and your HRM. How can it know of things like altitude gain when there is no sensor sending such data? TDA does not have FirstBeat metrics, I am guessing, so it won't calculate and save the same data as the watch.

The fact that Garmin bought Tacx and FirstBeat does not miraculously mean that everything works in harmony with no gaps across the ecosystem. The TDA does whatever it does. The watch does whatever it does. Both can send their data to Garmin Connect, but don't expect perfect integration. Maybe one day, but not today, and probably not any time soon.
