Tacx NEO 2T stops adjusting resistance in middle of Training

I am using the Tacx NEO 2T for a few weeks now and in general I really like the device. Just yesterday for the second time I had the following issue during a training.

I am using the latest Tacx Training App (4.13.4) on a Samsung tablet and the NEO 2T has the latest Firmware verrsion 0.0.37. The trainer is connected by Bluetooth.

In the beginning when I start the training in the Tacx Training app everything works fine. Then after maybe 15 minutes the trainer stops adjusting the resistence event although the wattage goal in the training plan changed. The training uses ERG mode, so the wattage should change no matter what.

You can see what I mean in the following screenshots. The upper screenshot comes from the Tacx Training app and the lower one from the Garmin app after uploading the training.

As you can see the actual wattage at the end just stays the same. After the training I checked the connection status and the trainer was perfectly connected (at least the app says so and if it wasn't during the training I would expect the app to tell me that the connection was lost).

Does someone know this problem? Is there a solution? Is there a way to create a technical log during the training to see the commands that the app is sending to the trainer?

  • This is a well known issue when using android Tacx Training App or an edge device to control the trainer during a workout or video session. It does not happen with desktop app. In my case I did not renew the subscription anymore as I really want to use a tablet and there are several options out there that work fine.

Do not expect any answer from Tacx/Garmin

  • I would suggest to report to Garmin Support. And then also share how you pair this to the App. If this is Android then with a Samsung it could be that you have paired this via ANT+ instead of Bluetooth.

And tell them which specific workout this was on.

If the trainer is also connected to another device, like an Edge or other recording device I this it is useful for them to know this.

You are right when you say, if you are no longer connected then the app should say that.

  • Thank you for the replies. I talked to Garmin support and they said I should downgrade the trainers software from version 0.0.37 (which they said they don't know where it is coming from) to the latest officially released version 0.0.36. I did it, but it didn't help. The problem is still there. Btw. when it happened I stopped the training session right away and started from the beginning and everything worked fine again.

I am pretty sure that the trainer is connected through Bluetooth, because the Bluetooth LED is turned on.

Meanwhile I found the other posts about this problem (I guess I was blind when I looked for it before I posted mine :-/) ... I guess I will go with another option. I just found the Tracx Training app useful to start with.

  • Same problem happens on a Laptop. This is very anoying. I cannot recommend anyone to buy this product. I am thinking about returning it.
