Cannondale Synapse Disc

Hello,

I’m considering a Neo 2T but am a direct-drive trainer newbie. Has anyone used a 2019 Cannondale Synapse Disc 105 (disc brakes with Shimano 105 group set) on this trainer? What kind of spacers would I need and are they provided?

Also, I keep hearing bad things about the reliability of the Neo 2T. How long have you had yours and what has reliability been like?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

I have different bike with Shimano 105 discbrakes mounted to the Neo t2.

I did have same questions as you do. Bought and found all accessories neccessary for sucessfull bike instalation (except 11 gear cassette and new chain I bought separately to have clean instalation)

I did use supplied spacers to get rear brakes littlebit further from TACX plastic housing. Instalation was quick...
Mechanically so far ZERO issues Slight smile  , cca 2500kms put on the device on TDA and Zwift. On HW level happy customer. TDA SW needs some little fixing after recent upgrades.

Just one thing to remember if more people use TACX device in your household - disconnect the device via TDA so for example running BT connection to TACX Neo t2 from your laptop doesnt interfere with others using the smart trainer in Zwift app on their tablets. (its not TDA / TACX issue, its Bluetooth connection related)

    Hello.

I bought the same Cannondale Synapse Disc 105 bike a few months ago, and I have the Neo 2T.   The bike has a thru-axle (versus quick release).  This is the key part that connects the bike to the trainer.  Because the bike has disc brakes, it fits a little differently than bikes with rim brakes.  All parts needed to make it fit properly come standard with the Neo 2T.  You only have to purchase the rear cassette separately.  As you are new to it, I suggest you purchase the same rear cassette as what your bike has - probably the R7000 105 11 speed for about $80.  This will ensure your bike when on and off the trainer can be calibrated to shift the same.

    Hope that helps.

Hm, we must have different bikes then. I just removed the rear tire and it is a quick release skewer.

Maybe we're talking slightly different models.  My Synapse definitely has a thru-axle, as shown in the pictures.  Either way, the Tacx Neo 2T comes with the needed parts to make it work.  Have fun.

Thanks for the response and photos! That is an amazing color! I have the “BBQ” (stealth black) one.

I think the difference lies in the Aluminum vs. Carbon version of the bikes. I have the Aluminum one.
