TRAININGPEAKS WORKOUTS WITH ERG MODE IMPOSIBLE TO FOLLOW ( CAN ERG MODE BE OFF?)

Hi there.

I have noticed in my last trainings with TACX NEO 2T, that I can not  correctly finish  my workouts, because the trainer is imposible to be moved it likes as  if  you will in a ramp of  +16%(whatever the gear you use). My problem is that in the different phase of the workout I can move the estimated Watts programmed, so suddenly the trainer goes hard and it is imposible to be moved.

For that reason, first I would like  to know if this feature ERG mode can be disable, since if not any Threshold workout session will be imposible to be done.

On the other hand, I would like to ask you if the same behaviour happen in your trainers, because I think that the trainer is so much expensive to can not use adequately.

Please any comment will be appreciated.

My current firmware release is 0.0.37.

  • The resistance swings were extreme. I was just trying to warm up for a while at 150W. The resistance was swinging from 0 to "barely turn the pedals". Not rideable.

  • I do not use Training Peaks workouts, but Zwift and Garmin, always with erg.

There is a common phenomenon when using erg called "spiral of death" where, if your cadence drops, the resistance must increase in order to maintain the target Watts. If you do not catch the increase in time your cadence will reduce again and resistance will increase further until you cannot turn the pedals at all. Once you've failed, erg will typically disengage so that you are able to get going again and will kick in once you're back up to speed with a steady (fast) cadence.

The solution is to anticipate increases in power target and make sure that your cadence is high in advance and maintained as the resistance kicks in harder.
