Tacx Training app ERG mode stops controlling Tacx Neo 2T during workout

I'm using my Android phone's Tacx Training app to control the ERG settings of my Tacx Neo 2T while working out.  I prefer to enter the ERG setting as I go through the work out.  Almost with every ride, at about 10 to 20 minutes in the trainer stops responding to new ERG commands and gets stuck at a previously entered ERG wattage.  When this happens, the app looks to still be connected to the trainer because the wattage is reported correctly oscillating up and down around the previous wattage setting.

So for example, I can have the app set to a programmed wattage of 180W and the reported measured wattage is quite close to the 180W but at around 15 minutes in I can set the app to tell the trainer to go to 220W but the trainer will not increase the resistance.  The ERG setting is set to 220W but the trainer continues at the 180W.  Any one else have this?  I usually have to unplug the trainer and reconnect to get it to work properly again.

I've contacted customer service and they suggest I use the Tacx Desktop app instead but I'm not seeing a way to program the ERG settings in real time on the desktop app.  I only see preprogrammed ERG plans available.  I often like to ride and set the ERG mode as I go in real-time because until I get warmed up I sometimes don't know if I'll want to push much harder than planned or go easy.  I tend to start out lazy and end up pushing much harder once in the groove.

  • Hi. I'm facing the same problem. Also with the Android Tacx Training app with the Tacx Neo 2T trainer. I have created an own power workout (FTP). During the first 10-20 Minutes it works fine, but after that the resistance of the trainer does not follow the my workout plan, but it stays on one (the last) level. However, the power feedback from the trainer to the app is still working.

Have you got any solution from the support yet for the android app?

I have this trainer for 1 month now and I'm already a bit pissed of. Such bugs (either in the trainer or in the app...) and also my cadence sensor does not work properly (neither in the android nor in the desktop app). For that money everything should just work.

  • I experience same issue with Tacx Neo using android tacx training app. I am not able to perform workouts, neither video sessions for more than 15 min without this resistance fixed issue. Same happens for workouts controlled by an edge 1030.

I have never seen this issue using zwift or rouvy android apps. Moving to Tacx desktop app is not an option for me, as I do not wat to setup a computer where I am using the trainer.

At least, while this communication problems are solved, Garmin/Tacx should provide a way to manually force reconnection with the trainer as controllable device within the session. Now, you must stop the session to reconnect

  • I have the same problem intermittently with the Tacx 2T when using my android phone (Galaxy S20). When connected via Apple TV this problem does not occur. The problem is not software e.g. Trainerroad / Zwift dependant. I think it is something to do with the Bluetooth connection from the phone. I will continue to test with an iphone XR on Traineroad / Zwift and then back on my Android with ANT+ to see if this is android specific.

  • Hi,

I have the same problem. Did any of you found a solution yet?

  • This is still happening and is quite frustrating. For me, the app stops responding about 35 or 40 minutes into a training, sometimes if I've paused for a few seconds. It's unclear what causes it, but nothing will cause it to reset other than stopping the program entirely. I've even killed the app on my phone and resumed the session after a restart of the app, but it's no longer driving the power on the TacX.

Anyone from Garmin wanna chime in on this one?
