Difference between Tacx Training App & 520+ Data

I've had a Neo 2T for about a week. I notice when I ride a film/course with the Taxc Training app that the Tacx Training app reports different data than what my Garmin 520+ recorded. For example, the Tacx Training app and Garmin Connect show different max speed, different max power, etc. Power isn't too bad, just a few watts, but max speed is different by 4 or 5 mph.

Both The Tacx Training app and the Garmin 520+ (Garmin Connect)  are using the Neo 2T as the source so I'm confused as to why the two show different data. I have the Garmin 520+ set to indoor and is paired as a smart trainer not a power meter.

Any thoughts?

  • Because the 520 is recording the speed of the metal disc of Neo, and the Tacx speed is calculated from your weight and the ingame grade% , these 2 wont be the same, pointless to compare them (same situation with Zwift also or with different trainers too). So forget the speed and distance values on 520 in this case. The max power could be different a bit because the Neo is working on 4HZ and 2 identical head units are also can capture a slightly different max values. The avg power should be the same , check the zero averaging settings in 520 (0 must be included in average)

  • Thanks! Makes sense.

I was more concerned with the power numbers than the speed.
