you can fit an 8s cassette onto the 9/10/11/12s body with a suitable spacer under the last sprocket. Ensure that you fully tighten the lockring to the maximum torque that Tacx allow, though, as otherwise the shallower splines of the 8s cassette sprockets will damage the cassette body under torque. The actual spline spacing is the same.
