NEO 2T Issues with cassette alignment and low pitched rumble/grinding in high gears

Update, the spacer bends against the bottom of the cassette when torqued causing it to spin off axis. Ghetto fix has been to install it behind the hightest gear instead and although not ideal at least it works.

However,

There is a noticeable low pitched grinding sound at higher gears, very obviously different to usual drivetrain noise. This is different to the higher pitched grinding (https://tacxfaqx.com/knowledge-base/grinding-sound/) Also the pedal stroke is not smooth, resistance feels varies at different stages of the stroke.

Nothing but trouble from this unit so far...

I have this same issue. Can someone from Garmin/Tacx respond?

They won’t respond, contacted customer service who were less than helpful and suggested that I dismantle the flywheel and do a full service (on a new unit?!).

Returned it for a refund, did not want to deal with warranty repairs etc. Especially for NEO 2t money.

  • Same issue here on a brand new trainer, waiting for a response from Garmin

I have a similar issue. In the small cogs I get low rumble and deep vibration in the bike. In the larger cogs and at lower RPMs it feels like riding on cobble stones. It seems like the resistance is not continuous for each revolution of the disk and there is a bumpy section on it.

How did you fix this in the end? Contacted Garmin a while ago but no feedback other than contact the vendor.

I had no response from Garmin but I sort-of fixed it by lowering the intensity level in Zwift. This makes me spin more with a higher cadence but it puts the chain in the middle of the cassette instead of in the highest or lowest cog. The Neo 2T performs better when the RPM is at 75 or higher. Anything lower will give a rumble feel.

I fixed this by returning the unit for a refund and buying a different product that works as advertised

For the price of the unit, this is a joke

Sadly other competing products have severe problems too. It’s what you can live with, I guess.

Just to be clear, this product appears to have the rumble effect when the cadence is lower that 70 rpm. If you can manage to put on an accommodating gear ratio or lower the intensity with the software, it’s a good device.

I know what you mean about a rumble at low RPM (passing over magnets slowly). My trainer also vibrates heavily at higher RPMs in the large chain ring, each vibration corresponds to a revolution of the disc. I can hear it grinding when setting the trainer in freewheeling mode at -5% with the bike off the trainer. Sent a movie to Garmin Support, but they won't provide any help because I am not located in Europe DisappointedI am now reaching out to the reseller.
