Power comparison with Vector 3 Pedals

Hi,

I got my 2T today and did my first ride using TrainerRoad. I used the 2T as the power source in Erg mode connected to TrainerRoad, with my Vector 3 pedals connected to my Edge 1030. There was a significant defference between the power readings of the two devices of between 15 and 20 watts; the Neo reading approx 245 and the Vectors closer to 260. A chart is attached showing hte two rides overlaid on one another.

Is there a problem, or is this normal? I don't know how the different readings are taken, but assume that they should be broadly similar across the range - the variation seems to great to be accounted for by devices at opposite ends of their tolderance ranges to me. Grateful for your thoughts?

Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

  • Doesn't really matter much, I compared with Neo 2 and Neo 2 is almost spot on with assioma while 2t is 10watt lower. I am guessing firmware/magnets

  • The almost spot on is could be problem also if the Assioma is overreading... (if the the Neo2 is doing the same, i have already seen under and overreadings too by Neo2s...) . 10w where? at 100w? or at 200? or at 400w? or everywhere? So is it percentage difference or offset? Doesnt matter. The Assiomas needs "break-in" time after a fresh installation, so need 20-30mins warmup for sure, a new zero offset calibration and testing/comparing after only this step. (sometimes if the bike is stored in different place then the Neo, then it needs break-in time also, just not so long as after installation. Of course, install the latest 0.36 into the 2T to get the best result.

  • Man, I know all this, neo 2t us just under reading there is no "truth".. I know how much watts I push and Its not realistic..just by feeling I already know by so many years. Its under reading by 10 watts consistently. I would understand 2-3 watts of drive train. I am guessing the newest firmwares messed it up. If you still can, don't update. Also I dont use neo power anymore as its useless, just power match wih assioma and have same watts for more useful training.

  • Always the "Higher number is the best number!" Ride on!

  • It’s frustrating especially when you use TrainingPeaks to create workouts as you effectively need a pedal ftp setting for when out on the road and another when using the turbo in ERG mode.  My Tacx Neo 2 reads 14 watts less than my Assioma pedals.
