Tacx Flux 2 erg resistance loss

Setup:

- Tacx App on a Macbook Pro (version 1.24.11 (54))

- Workout FTP mode (ERG mode)

- Tested with both Bluetooth and Ant+

- Tacx Flux 2 firmware (latest version)

Issue:

- Resistance drops for a second one pedal stroke every once in a while (+- 1 time every minute).

- As a result wattage drops with +- 30%. Cadence drops..

Anyone else experiencing the same? Is it the belt? Really annoying since I mainly use the trainer in ERG mode.

  • Yes, I am having the same issue (including on a replacement unit). I think it is software related as the unit used to be 100% perfect.

  • Same thing here. Garmin support worked with me on this and I prepared ride files for them to review. They said my trainer and power level response was within tolerances. Swings of 15-20W up and down are apparently just fine!  The fact of the matter is that the TACX FLux2 sucks at ERG. Capability to hold a steady power is nowhere near the capability of their competition.

  • It sounds like you're experiencing some frustrating issues with your Tacx Flux 2 in ERG mode. While occasional resistance fluctuations can be quite disruptive, there are a few potential factors to consider.

Firstly, it's good that you've tested both Bluetooth and Ant+ connections to rule out any connectivity issues. Since you've also ensured your firmware is up to date, it might be worth checking the physical components of your trainer.

Given the specific timing of the resistance drops, it could indeed be related to the belt or possibly some mechanical aspect of the trainer. Occasionally, belts can slip or components can slightly shift during intense workouts, leading to inconsistent resistance.

Before assuming it's a hardware issue, though, it might be worthwhile to troubleshoot software settings as well. Ensure that your Tacx App and any associated software are fully updated and configured correctly for ERG mode.

If the problem persists after checking these aspects, reaching out to Tacx customer support for further assistance might be your best bet. They could provide more specific guidance or potentially offer a solution to resolve the resistance loss you're encountering.

Hang in there! Hopefully, with a bit of troubleshooting and possibly some support from Tacx, you'll be back to smooth rides in ERG mode soon.
