Tacx flow pauses randomly and won’t restart

Since I purchased the TacX Flow I will be riding with it connected to the TacX training app and it will randomly pause.  I have to exit the app to get it to restart the ride.  I tried using airplane mode with only wifi and Bluetooth, no difference.  Restarting/unplugging the power sometimes works but it pauses again.  WiFi signal is strong but cell signal where I use it is weak.  Doesn’t matter if I only use the trainer, if I connect to my tv or use the heart rate monitor.  No changes.  Yesterday a new wrinkle jumped in where my bike on the app sped up to 130 mph even when not pedaling.  Rides also just disappear.

is this an app issue or a connection issue (WiFi/cell/bluetooth)?

  • I seem to have roughly the same problem.
It works fine, sometimes for a couple of minutes, but also sometimes only after some seconds, and it just gives random numbers which won't change anymore, even if I stop pedaling.
    Very frustrating ...

  • I think I figured it out.  Tacx flow will only accept one Bluetooth connection at a time but both my phone and watch try to connect.  I disabled the watch connection and rarely have an issue anymore.  If it does pause I just unplug the TacX flow to restart the unit.  The ride will then resume once I start pedaling again.

  • Yes, I think this is what was happening to me as well.  In my situation, I was starting my Garmin watch (indoor Bike) for heart rate. Since I have stopped doing this, no issues.

  • Yes, if you don't use your watch for HR, you don't have the problem, but you have to have an HR with chest strap, and I don't have that.
I just record my activity now with my Gramin FR745.

  • I just ordered a stand-alone HR strap. It seems no stores carry them anymore as all of the watches, etc., have them. Oh well!  I am just happy the trainer works and I don't need to deal with support.

  • In my case this issue was beig caused by my trainer connecting to another device each time it paused. I solved it by removing the trainer from my watch's list of devices.
