Should I run the firmware update?

Hi there,

I have had my Flow Smart for 4 years, and did a firmware update when I bought it, but not done another since.

Obviously, there has been an update available now for quite some time, but I have read a number of reports online that the doing the update can stop the device working altogether. In those circumstances, is there a strong argument for updating the firmware and taking the risk of bricking the device, or should I just leave well alone?

Thanks,
David

  • is there a strong argument for updating the firmware

You yourself have given a strong argument why you should not start experimenting with device firmware without special need. Garmin's proposed use of a mobile app for firmware updates is a very unwise and unreliable method. The utility from the TTS4 is a much more reliable way to update the firmware, but it will only update the firmware of one of the two processors of the trainer.
