Intensity Minutes calculated incorrectly (issue started on Dec 3, 2025)

Hello!

I noticed a new issue when calculating intensity minutes in my Garmin Vivoactive 6.

Until December 3, 2025 intensity minutes data calculated over the week was correctly reflecting activities logged and everyday life. However, in the date mentioned I noticed a spike in "intensity minutes" that is inconsistent with the activities of the day.

Below you can find a snapshot of the daily timeline for yesterday (December 8, 2025)

From the image above you can see:
- Activity Minutes is correctly recorded after activity is completed, which moved the graph line to ~100 intensity minutes for the day

- Then, around 11:30 PM (bed time) there is another "jump" of ~100 minutes, almost doubling the minutes recorded for the day

- It seems to me that the intensity minutes for the activity are logged once again before bed time

The same pattern has been happening since December 3, where intensity minutes spike happens in the end of the day right before my bed time.

The issue started on Dec 3, 2025 and it still present to the day of this posting.

Can someone from Garmin please take a look and fix this issue when possible?

NOTE: I use HRM-Pro Plus HR band when exercising, and have been using it for over 2 months and the data was correct - until December 3 when this issue started.

  • I am seeing a very similar issue starting around Dec 7. All my moderate show vigorous minutes about the same as the moderate minutes thus doubling my total minutes. These are just light workouts and I do not expect and vigorous minutes. My HR and calories are as expected. I can see this immediately following the workout. I’ve used the HRM Pro Plus for a couple of years and have never seen

  • Hopefully someone from Garmin will check this message and get back to us.

  • Same here, similar issue with Fenix 8. The same activity is doubling the moderate/high intensity minutes, and then doubling them as well on the Intensity minutes section, but considering the already doubled minutes of the activity itself, so x4.

This started happening this last week as far as I noticed.

  • I did some testing this week (after updating my watch to version 15.33) and the issue persistes when I log and activity while wearing the HRM Pro Plus.

However, when not using the external HR chest band the issue doesn't happen, so it's definitely a problem recently introduced where the watch doesn't "combine" the intensity minutes of activities while using HRM Pro band and ends up "doubling" it.

Really disappointing, specially because no one from Garmin answers to this thread.

I feel like Gamin's value doesn't come from the overpriced watches/gear, but all the metrics/statistics that are really helpful to track health / activities over time... When those metrics start to not be reliable, the "what you get from what you paid" offset starts swing to the poor side.

  • Thanks, I’ll try a test during my next row. I went to the strap cause occasionally my hr with the watch would go into a candence lock, yes, while rowing, and give me 20 minutes with a hr of 180. No issues once I started with the strap. I do wear the watch also.
