Why is my Garmin Vivoactive 6 not recording floors?

I purchased a Garmin Vivoactive 6 recently as my Venus 2S died. I noticed my new watch does not record floors and would like to know if there is something I need to update in order to record floors?

  • Unlike Venu 2S, Vivoactive 6 does not have any barometric altimeter:

  • I am very unhappy that the Garmin Vivoactive 6 does not do floor climbs. I upgraded from a Vivoactive 4, which did do floor climbs. I did not expect a removal of a feature from a older model. To me this almost constitutes misleading advertising. Who eliminates a feature and does not prominently announce this?  I am very very disappointed. It is a bit after a month since I got the watch, and I thought the watch was simply adjusting to my biometrics. Now I find it will never count floors. Is there a remedy for this, Garmin?
