Timer feature unavailable, "Maximum timers reached"

Despite no timer active, the watch is unable to start one.

Steps to reproduce:
- Open menu, select "Timer"
- See "no timer active" at the top of the screen
- Try to start any timer
- Error "Maximum timers reached" appears

-> Basic timer feature unavailable

This issue first appeared on firmware version 12.74.

Rebooting doesn't resolve the problem. How to fix this?

  • Hello!

We have been unable to duplicate the message you are receiving. Would it be possible for you to record a video of the steps you are taking and the resulting message?

You can upload the video using this article - Sending a File, Folder, Photo or Video to Garmin Product Support

  • Thanks for your response. Sure, I've just uploaded a video of the issue to the portal using my forum mail address. Hope you can access it, as I'm unable to link or otherwise reference it here.

  • A support case has been created. I will follow up as information becomes available. You may want to try deleting and recreating a timer, we have seen some success with that on another device.

  • Thanks for your suggestion. I just removed all my timer presets but unfortunately the issue persists, still unable to start a timer. Looking forward to a solution from the support case. Let me know if I can provide any further information.

  • In addition to my last response: the workaround indeed applied to my issue

Further steps to reproduce when in error-state like described above:
    - In the timer menu, unable to start any timer

    - Delete all presets one by one, only the manual start option at the top of the list remains
    - Still unable to start the timer, same error message "maximum timers reached" appears (see my last response, but:)
    - Leave timer menu, e.g. return to watchface
    - Enter timer menu again, selecting the sole manual option available
    - Now be able to adjust the time and actually start a timer -> great!

    - Single timer without any preset works fine
    - Now if I save this timer to the list, the issue returns
    - Unable to start any timer until I remove all preset entries again

(Same issue if I try to start another timer with the manual option while one is already running, not sure if this is intended - error message suggests it should be possible)

This is not the solution but at least a proper workaround. Thank you Tracy!

  • You have been added to the support case and I have shared your video with the team as well. I will make sure to update  this thread once there is a resolution.

The timer is not intended to run twice concurrently, so the error seen when trying to is intended
