Ambient Sensor Control

Is it possible to disable or control the ambient light sensor?

the vivoactive wakes on gesture to a dimly lit screen. Its not bright enough and makes the watch too hard to use when you have less than perfect vision.

I've looked and searched and i cant find any way to control it.

I imagine its simple to add a button to disable this?

  • Interesting. I have a VA6 since a few weeks and never had this issue. Screen is even more bright than my phone in direct sunlight. But even at night it dims properly, no issues. And when I turn on the light it's bright again.

Looks like some of these watches have a issue from factory already. Either with the ambient sensor or the display itself.

    I consider myself lucky!

  • No issues regarding display brightness with my watch. It dynamically adjusts to ambient brightness indoors and outdoors appropriately - even better than my phone, which already does a really god job. No general complaints, but there might be individual hardware issues as already mentioned

  • Hi,

any news on this topic meanwhile? Experienced the same issue, and it seems I'll return device as well.

    thx

  • As I'm still awaiting feedback for a similar (identical?) issue myself, the following text is a crosspost from

While in "screen-off" state the watch seems totally unresponsive to button press events or touchscreen gestures, as mentioned. But I appreciate your suggestion because in my configuration, the long press of the back button launches the Pay function. I was able to reproduce the long press reliably activates the screen out of the error state (although at very high brightness) while vibrating at the same time. After testing this observation for multiple days to give proper a response, it seems more like a software bug than a hardware issue. Let me know what you think. Really looking forward to more feedback on this topic.

Quick recap: Screen randomly turns off, doesn't turn on by touch, button or gestures. Long press back button to launch the Pay feature always works.

    Thanks
