My Vivoactive 5 already asked me twice to go ahead with a software update. I got the message "software update after x seconds" where x counted down to 0. The second time I allowed the update to go ahead, the watch restarted twice during the update. I didn't get a message telling me what component was updated and to what version.
Luckily I had recorded all version numbers before I allowed the update to go ahead. Checking them after the update I found that none of the versions had changed!
This was ever so strange since I installed the Vivoactive only 2 days ago and since the factory installed software was not the latest, as can be expected, a software update was performed very recently. It would be quite a coincidence that a new software version had been released in the meantime.
I hope that the watch does not bother me in the future with software updates if there is none.
A few hours before I let the software update go ahead, I already executed the software update function from the settings menu. I got the animation suggesting the update was taking place and after a minute or so, I got the message that there were no updates!
