HRV Average not updating since 14.15 update

Vivoactive 5 SW Update 14.15.
While the update fixed one problem (activity Icons, on the Body Battery glance, not updating) on my watch I’ve noticed that the nightly HRV average is not updating. I don’t think I’ve had the same HRV average 2 days in a row since I’ve owned the watch, but it was the same for 3 days in a row. I then did a soft rest (power off and back on). And, while I got a different average the next morning, it stayed the same (again) for 3 more mornings.
I contacted Garmin this morning, but have not heard back yet. As just about every activity and health metric uses the HRV data, I now have NO confidence in the watch.
I suppose I could do a power cycle every day, but that doesn’t seem like a long term solution.
If you have installed the update, the easiest way to see the problem, is to check HRV, using the Connect App.
Go to HRV Status.
Tap on 7D, to see seven days of data.
And then tap on Overnight Averages, which is underneath the graph.
If you have a similar problem, the graph of overnight averages (dotted lines) will be flat since you updated.

  • While I’m sorry you have the same problem, I’m happy to see someone else who is experiencing the same thing.  I’m trying a few things before I contact Garmin Customer Service.

    1. I’m trying one more power on/off cycle, which will then takes 3 days to verify.

    2. Then I’ll try doing a factory reset of the watch.

If none of these fix the problem, I’ll be calling Garmin.

i have a feeling there are a lot of others who have the same issue, but because they don’t look at their HRV stats every day, with the Daily Average enabled, they are not seeing it.

i “hope” that the Daily Average is the only thing effected, but because it’s HRV it could possibly be effecting the Sleep Score, Body Battery and Stress.

    Good Luck!

  •  Last evening I enabled the Puls-Ox. The hrv average has updated for the last night.

  • Sala,

I'd like to find out more of what you were seeing as the problem.

I'd also like to find out why you decided to make the change and what was the change you made?

Did you change Pulse-Ox from "On Demand" to "During Sleep"?

Did you do a power cycle before or after making the Pulse-Ox change?

I did a power cycle, before going to bed last night, and it updated.  I'm a little suspicious of the HRV Average number, as before 14.15 my nightly average would be all over the place, now it's been 49 (for 3 nights in a row), 46 (for 3 nights) and this morning it was 45.  Seems to good to be true!  :-)

    Thanks!

  • After the update, I had the days in a row the same hrv average, even if the nighty hrv was different.

I switched the pulse-ox from on demand to during sleep, because I wanted to test the new "breath change" feature during sleep.

No power cycle or something like that. Since enabling the pulse ox, the herb average is updating again.

  • Thanks for the update.

My HRV did update, last night, without having to enable the new “breath change” metric or without having to do a power reset,
Although, since update 14.15, it does seem as though my HRV does not change as dramatically.  The daily average used to have wild swings, from day to day.
Look at the past 4 weeks of my HRV data.  The last several days have been remarkably “stable”.  I would have to say, based on the history, that it was too stable.  Only changing from 49, to 46, 45 and (last night) 48.
I’ll try turning in Blood Ox and see what changes it makes.
    Thanks again.
