The watch does not detect bedtime

For 3 nights in a row, my vivoactive 5 has not detected the sleep start time. It detects 1 a.m. instead of 11 p.m. I didn't have this problem with my Venu Sq.

  • Hello!

    1) Are you wearing the watch for the 2 hours prior to your sleep period?

    2) If you review your data for the 11:00pm. - 1:00am time period

    • Is the stress score consistently over 25?
    • Is there a noticeable drop in heart rate in comparison to the rest of the day? 10-15 bpm or more?
    • Does the device indicate steps were taken in that time range? if so, how many?
    • Are their gaps in your HRV data?

It would be beneficial to contact Garmin Support in your region, if you grant them permission they can go through your connect data with you and determine why the sleep periods aren't being recorded as expected

  • Thank you for your reply. Last night the watch correctly detected the start of sleep at 11 p.m. Is this because I updated to version 14.15 yesterday? We'll see the next few nights.

  • This night too, good bedtime detection at 10:45 p.m.

  • There were some changes that impacted sleep tracking, lets keep an eye on it for a bit. Let me know if you start to see accuracy issues again.

  • Just curious, is it the breathing variations feature ro something else? I don't see anything else in the changelog about sleep tracking changes. Thanks.

  • After 2 to 3 days of correctly detecting sleep onset, today the watch is bringing my sleep onset time forward by 2 hours. It puts me in a long, deep sleep even though I was wide awake in the armchair watching TV. Sure, my heart rate and stress were low, but I wasn't asleep.I fell asleep at 10:54 PM even though the watch said 8:54 PM. I wonder if I'll keep this watch with the crazy results it's showing me.

  • I think she put me into deep sleep at 8:54 PM because I had very little movement and low heart rate and stress, but she was wrong. The living room camera confirmed that I was awake.

  • Last night it detected the onset of sleep but at 11:45 p.m. it considered me awake for 1 hour when that was not the case. I am disappointed with my purchase.

  • Nothing to report last night, correct handling and even a 40 minute nap was well received.
