Vivoactive 5

Our for a hike today when my emergency sensor went off.

I was doing nothing out of the ordinary, was heading down an arroyo, with my husband. No sudden stops or starts, no falls, just walking down a hill when my emergency sensor went off. It made my phone beep relentlessly, even when I pressed the "all is okay" button, it wouldn't shut up. My watch was vibrating incessantly, for minutes, before I had to shut it down, too.

Both devices were turned off, but my husband got an notification. With him being right there, he knew I was fine.

I turned on my phone and watch again, and everything started all over. I had to finish the rest of my hike with my both devices off (about two more miles).

I was LIVID. This was clearly a false emergency and it would not stop.

Because I had to turn off my devices, I lost my activity tracking for this hike, but weirdly enough, when I turned my watch back on, it continued to track me...but incorrectly. When I turned it off, I was five miles into the hike. When I turned it on, it indicated three miles even though it wasn't on. I couldn't get the correct screen on my watch to reset the tracking. It was sooo frustrating!

But about two months ago, I actually fell. I rolled, breaking my shoulder. I was alone and no emergency notification, nothing. When I fell, my phone went flying, so I had to crawl over to find it and call for help. Where were all the notifications then?

I'm not happy with this feature at all. However, this is a replacement watch. Maybe it wasn't refurbed correctly? Either, I'll be calling Garmin on Monday and try to get some answers. Right now, I'm just...whining.
