All activities labeled as “XC Classic Ski”

On my watch, when I go to the Body Battery glance and then swipe up, to see what activities I’ve done that day, all my activities (walking, mediation, etc) are being labeled as “XC Classic Ski”.

But, when I go to the “Last Activity” and “Last 7D” glances, they are labeled correctly AND they are also being labeled correctly in Garmin Connect.

I’m not sure if this is a recent bug or is something that came up after the recent software update.

I actually don’t usually check my activities on my watch, so it’s not really an issue and is something I can live with.  Just thought I’d put it out there.

  • OMG MINE TOO!!! except all mine are labeled as treadmill! They will stay normal until my V5 syncs to Garmin connect. Then it all switches to treadmill activities. It seems like it just recently started doing this as well, because I’ve only had it since 1/27 and this has been the last week or so for me. I have been trying to get an answer and I thought I was crazy. All my data is correct everywhere else like in Connect and on the website. But not under body battery. History and last run etc are all correct as well. Thank you so much for putting this issue out there!!!!

  • Mine is doing the same thing. My new vivoactive 5 under the body battery shows all activities as treadmill AFTER syncing with Connect. Until it syncs, all activities shown under the body battery glance are normal. Then after sync, HIIT, walking, deep breathing etc. all become treadmill activities.

  • I connected with another person whose activities get saved as "Run".  I'm guessing that it's the first activity, after the most recent software update, that our watches save the activity as.

After first telling me that I was the only one that had seen the problem, Garmin sent me this reply on March 3rd:

"Garmin is currently aware of users experiencing this issue across multiple fitness wearable devices. Our engineering team is reviewing this issue and working on a resolution. We unfortunately do not have an ETA at this time however we do appreciate your patience while this is under review."

I guess we have to hope that they fix it in the next update.  That being said, it's not really that big of an issue (to me) as I rarely go to my watches Body Battery glance, to check my activities.  Preferring to do so on my phone.  I'm thinking there are a LOT of users who only check on their phone, so have not seen the problem yet.

  • Since the new update a few days ago, I was really looking forward to this hopefully being fixed as a patch maybe in this update. Now, instead of all my activities being marked as “treadmill” (even meditation and breath work at night was labeled “treadmill”). All my activities are being labeled “Walk”!!! Everything under body battery is “walk”. I can get no answer from Garmin at all, and now they have turned into the rest of the wearables by paywalling things that were promised to be free with Garmin +. Is your body battery issue still doing the same thing? I can’t get Garmin to even acknowledge that this is an issue they act like they have never heard of it.
Mine doesn’t just pick the first activity and save the rest as the same activity because I usually will run before anything else and now all is saved as walk. Annoying but not the end of the world.
Also my brand new watch is terrible at gauging distance on the treadmill after 1 mile. Idk what to do.

  • Yes, my watch is still labeling my activities as "XC Classic Ski".  Strange that the are labeled correctly in other areas ("Last Activity") on my watch and on my phone.  I'm not stressing out over it, but would be very upset if it my phone was recording my activities incorrectly.

I think the Garmin+ is for advanced training options, something I'm not really interested in.  So far, I haven't seen any reviews/comments that make me think it would be something I'm interested in.  I do wish Garmin would spend more time fixing their bugs and refining the data, rather than new ways  to get more money.

There are a couple of calibrations you can do.
