The accelerometer on the watch is detecting some sort of arm movement and registering it as steps. I don't own a vivoactive 5, but on my watch this sometimes happen on a very bumpy road, but not often.
These are not ideal, but some possible workarounds:
Thank you for your reply. When I try to follow the instructions to turn off activity tracking by pressing button A from the watch face, I cannot see how to get to Settings!
Thank you for your reply again. This is exactly where the problem lies with my watch; for some reason it's not the A button that takes me to Settings, where I can turn off Activity Tracking, it's the B button! It took me a very long time to work this out since all the instructions are telling me to press the A button. I've found the option to turn off Activity Tracking now, so I will try it next time I drive my car. I will come back on here to report if it does not work.
