Display blinks off and on if you wake it up with a double tap

If you wake up the Vivoactive 5 display with a double tap and you try to swipe to access glances it will turn off for a second and then back on, really annoying bug (with watchface made by Garmin)

  • A video that shows how it happens systematically.

  • I noticed you mentioned that this is a Watch Face made by Garmin, however is it a Garmin watch face you installed from the Connect IQ store? If so, please uninstall the watch face, power cycle the watch, and test again with a default watch face. If the issue continues we would like to investigate further. Let us know if we have permission to contact you via email.

  • I've tested with the default watch face: in this case the first input after the double-tap screen wake-up is ignored, maybe the refresh having no graphs and charts to re-plot is handled better.

With the Home-Fit Thrill the first landing on the watchface is always accompained with a replot of every single data field: I suppose that touching after the two tap wake up is coded to don't allow an immediate access to Glances, but triggers a refresh and this refresh is handled with plotting each graph and consequent "blinking".

Feel free to contact me by email, the preferred is the one associated with this account. Thank you in advance.

  • I am having the same issue as is shown in the video.

Everything is fine after waking the watch using a button or a gesture, but when the device is woken up with a tap this issue occurs.

The default watch faces that came pre-installed do not turn off for a second but the first input does not register.
With other watch faces the screen turns black for a second on the first input and the input does not register.

This happened on firmware version 9.24 and it still occurs on beta version 10.08.

  • Thank you. Would you please record a similar video using the pre-installed watch face and upload it here.

  • We will want to look into this for you. Would you please provide the following:

    • A video of the disruption using a Connect IQ app
    • A video of a similar interaction using the pre-installed apps
    • Do we have permission to email you?
    • Do we have permission to access your Connect account?
    • What country are you located in?
  • Ofcourse!

The first video shows a Connect IQ watch face. You can see that the screen turns black on the first swipe, but the second one works fine.

The second video shows a default watch face, you can see that the first swipe does not register, but the second one works fine. I also show that the steps app opens when I wake the device by touching the steps counter area, this normally only happens when I long press the steps counter.

You can email me, and access my Connect account. I am from The Netherlands.

    Hope this helps! Smiley

  • Sure, here it is.

With the default watchface the first swipe after screen wake up is straighforward ignored.

  • Thank you both. I've added you to an open ticket regarding this. Once I have more information, or should we require additional information, we will reach out to you via email.

  • New firmware version came out today and two months later the problem is still present exactly as reported before.
