Bluetooth Keeps Disconnecting and Reconnecting to Phone

The Bluetooth connection of my Vivoactive 5 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting which caused missed notifications and sync issues. I've updated to 9.24, but issue still persists. Even I unpair and pair it again, it's still happening which is very frustrating. This is my first Garmin device and so far I'm not liking the experience. Anyone else facing the same issue?

  • Hello , I have the same issue with vivo active 5, if my phone(iPhone 13) is in a different room it disconnects. I had 735XT and I did not have this issue at all. It is a problem with the watch.My wife have the same issue with same watch and iPhone 15. I will give it back and buy a different producer.

  • This is not the problem. It actually disconnects, and I have to use the app again to link my phone to the watch. I didn't have the issue with Vivoactive 3. It's not just about the notifications.

  • Same issue here. I read that they disconnect when they're far from each other or in different rooms, with glass, concrete, etc, in between... But right now, the watch is on my wrist and the phone is 1m away on a charger, and this keeps happening, It's so annoying! This is my first Garmin and I was so happy to buy it, and now I'm reconsidering the decision.

  • I was having the issue with my Vivoactive 3.  I figured it was because the 3 was not being fully supported any more by Garmin.  So, I upgraded to the 5 and now am having the same problems.  The issue is not about distance from phone.  

  • See this other thread:  This is really a problem.  It seems to be happening only on Android, and the majority of us in that other thread are on Pixel phones.  The VA5 worked fine before the 10.20 update, so it's not a phone/watch incompatibility issue.  But we're seeing some strange things.  For example, my VA5 tried to reconnect to my phone and called it self everything from my earbuds to my car to my Chromebook.  Several of us have submitted logs to Garmin and they say they're working on it.  

    I will say, I returned mine, but am buying another.  I've tried other options, but the grass is really not greener.  As long as my watch connects at least once a day to dump data, I think I can live with this.  But it does seem to be happening to a lot of other devices, the Venu 3 series as well.  

    My VA3 is just fine.  No issues at all.  Stays connected.  Rock solid.  I replaced it for newer features, a better battery life, and a more updated look.  My old VA3 is just worn out from a long life. 

    If you're having these issues, please contact customer service.  They're really generally great, and the more of us who are saying we're having issues, the faster I bet we can get a fix.

  • I can hardly reconnect at all. Prior to the upgrade it kept disconnected and reconnected. It was a bit annoying but it was not a problem. But now, I am disconnected completely. Trying to reconnect failed most of the time even when placing VA5 next to the phone. I'm not sure what Garmin can do to help us fix this issue. Very very disappointed. 

  • I am having the exact same issue and it's really frustrating. It happens several times a day. I have followed the advice on FAQ but nothing seems to resolve the issue. Angry  I will report to customer service and see if I can get anywhere with them.
