Vivoactive 5 - automatically saves activity during rest or break. No resume activity after a longer pause.

Vivoactive 5 - Automatically saves activity and ends it when resting during run; does not resume activity. This is awful during long runs (half and full marathons). Have I have to start a whole new run, completely ruining my time for the race(run)!

  • Same for me, hoping there's a work around to stop it from auto-completing your run when you take an extended pause/break during your run.

  • This is how venu/vivoactive devices have been for some time.  If you pause a native activity for more than 15 minutes or so, the activity is saved and there is no "resume later" option as there is on forerunners/fenix devices.

The only option is to use a ciq app to record the activity instead of a native one.  You can pause them as long as you want.

Here's one of mine, but it will only record a walk or a hike, but you'll find others in the app store for other activities.

    Hike2+ https://apps.garmin.com/apps/116a5b59-29ae-4397-a70e-907d7e5f8e44

You can try recording a "walk" and then edit the activity type in GC after it syncs.Hike2+ has about 12 screens of info, so you can see about anything you want.

  • I know this doesn't fix the problem, but like Jim said, there is a time limit after pausing the activity.

What I do is pause it with the top button, and if I think I'll be doing it for ages I'll start it again after 5 minutes or so, and then pause it immediately again, and keep doing it until I'm ready to start again properly. This seems to refresh the timer on that time limit each time

It's an annoying thing to have to do but for now it works
