Goal alerts no longer showing (steps)

Hi,

I've noticed in the last week or so (even prior to the recent update), that my watch no longer tells me when I've hit my goals. This is more noticeable on step goals, as when I get close to the number, I watch out for the alert, which never comes.

I've turned the setting for goal alerts off and on, restarted the watch, and tried various things such as not having the widget open when I get within 1000 steps of my goal, just in case that somehow was interfering with it, but I'm still not receiving alerts.

On one hand it's great because it makes me move more, but when I'm at the end of the day with 3000 steps left, and I'm walking on the spot or jogging on the spot, I'd rather do 3000, not 3500 before I realise.

The intensity minutes still pop up like they should, so this is very odd.

  • Hey, I did not. I got an answer, but it's unacceptable really haha.

Basically you only get goal alerts if you have that particular tab on the menu. Sorry I forget the terminology, but you know the thing when you swipe up or down? Yeah, you have to have intensity minutes there to get intensity minute goal alerts, and same for steps. It's not enough to just have the step count on your watch face. Seems very silly to have to have it in two places but I guess they can't be bothered making that not the case

  • Thank you for getting back to me !  It was really annoying me !  But I’ve just tried what you said and it’s working now !  Thank you so much !  I really appreciate it.

  • Not a problem, glad to help :)

  • I noticed the same thing this last two weeks, my hydration tracker crashed. Then disappeared from the watch and the app, I had to get it from the garmin app store. The watch face I had was the standard vivoactive green and after it became an outline with no info showing. I noticed since this happened that I got no goal met alerts for hydration or steps, and when I swipe down steps and hydration are in that menu. I tried emailing support and it was pretty sad response. Didn't answer what I asked. It didn't even seem like they read the email. Bit disappointing since even if the vivoactive is there "cheap" watch it's still pretty expensive. Other than that I have enjoyed the watch and metrics, as have only had it for 2 months or so. Just thought like to know not only one experiencing this.

  • Yeah it seemed to me from the response I got that it was a "that's how it is, deal with it" kind of thing. I just don't bother with the step alert now, one of the easiest things to measure and would be nice to have, but what can you do.

In regards to it being a cheaper model, I had the venue sq before this, at half the price, so there's definitely cheaper ones, but yeah, they definitely favour their £1000+ watches, as I've had discussions on here with support about them turning off live chat support for cheaper watches when it gets busy Upside down

But yeah, it's an okay watch. Half the features tied to sleep and naps don't work for me sadly, which was the whole reason for getting the watch aha. Hopefully you're having better luck with it
