Nap Feature

Seriously? My new Vivoactive 5 recorded a 38-minute nap while I read a book. I do not nap, nor will I ever. Either give us the option to turn off the defective nap feature, or allow us to edit the time to reflect the 0 minutes that I will ever nap. I'm ready to return this watch.

This should not be hard. When will there be a solution for this problem??

  • Thank you for your post. Currently there is not a way to disable naps nor edit/delete them. However, it is a great suggestion! I would highly suggest submitting it here.

  • I had the watch for 3 weeks... I can confirm that I don't nap at all, and the watch records at least 1 nap daily, and I had days with 2-3 naps... The only time when I napped around ~ 60 minutes, it didn't catch/record that... I do work mostly at a desk, laptop, but I do also move a lot... The annoying thing is that its "clogging" the boby-battery graph/view

It's a nice feature indeed, still young... in development... I get it!

What I can't really understand is how a Xiaomi Miband 5 ( a 25$ fitness tracker 5 years old ), can track the exact sleep/wake-up time to the minute... and also the naps exactly...

    Anyway...

  • I have the same problem. I’m only having this watch for a few days, but every time I’m reading or watching tv or when I eat it’s registering naps and it throws off my (bad) sleepscore etc. So when I wake up my sleep data and score is accurate. But during the day it gets more off with every nap it detects. I also never nap.

    I already submitted the suggestion.

    1. edit to add: yesterday it detected a 47 minute nap while I was running a yoga activity on my watch and my heart rate went up very high several times during it! How is that possible?
  • Same here - I bought a Vivoactive 5 today. Put it on at 4pm, and at 8pm it recorded a nap while I was watching TV.

    Not a good omen...

  • Yesterday the watch told me I had napped three times, and that I need to nap less frequently. Joy I never napped. Not once. This feature is just nuts.

  • Yes the naps also do not show up under Sleep in the Garmin Connect app so I actually wonder what they are even tracked for.

i also get these “naps” when sitting back to read etc.

This feature generally needs full implementation so that it isn’t just a marketing buzzword-compliant feature.

  • Yes I agree.

yesterday morning it recorded a nap while I was still sleeping and it was in my sleep time I did set in the user settings. I thought the nap feature didnt work in you sleep window. But then again, I also thought napping wouldn’t start recording during an activity :-D

  • All I can say is that I'm on the 9.19 BETA (please don't install it) and I stopped getting the naps :) --- most of the times these are now tagged as restful moments... Not sure yet if the nap tracker works as it supposed to do, because I also don't nap...

Please wait a little more time for the official software update...

  • I turned on the Beta when I first got the watch. Turned it off immediately when it looked like it would cause new problems. What has been your experience with Beta? I ask because nap, sleep, body battery, pulse ox are all inaccurate on this watch. Now I question the heart rate readings that are often far from what my other Garmin watch detects. So, the Vivoactive 5 is an expensive way to nerely tell the time and receive a few notifications.

  • You should be able to view the details of the nap in the Connect app. For steps on accessing this please see: Frequently Asked Questions About Tracking Naps
