Vivoactive charging issues

Something to note for Garmin users.

My Vivoactive 4 started to be troublesome in charging, and although I looked at the 'soft reset' / 'hard reset' solutions I found that alcohol in both the watch and charger cable provided the fix for me.

What surprised me was it was the charger cable that needed to most attention, I had to rub away at two of the brass coloured connectors to remove what I could only surmise as dead skin?

Anyway, I scratched away at the two offending connectors with a watchmakers screwdriver and the watch is now taking a charge.

If Garmin read these comments they would be wise to think of a better charging regime. This electro / mechanical interface is set up exactly to fail eventually, and it really does not look good when you compare with the Apple watch. I have the feeling that 'lifestyle' market is where Garmin is headed these days [unfortunately]
