Battery leakage VivoActive 4 Series?

Garmin,

Starting Tuesday I noticed a red spot on the top of my wrist where I wear my Garmin VivoActive 4 which I have had for 2-3 years, wear daily, and take off at night before bedtime.  I saw a few of the same questions posed in the forum the past few years that have been discontinued.

Does the back of the watch leak?  Would the rechargeable cable port with the 4 copper/metal circles overheat or leak?  Or the 4 rectangles (I assume for pulse)???  It does not hurt, burn, etc

It is in the exact same spot / location of my watch.  I figure I will wait and see how this progresses (assuming it will go away) and if it gets worse then go to the doctor.  I don't see this as bacteria as I take the watch off every night.

Back to the original question....is the watch leaking?  I have definitely worn the watch for the last time and will be looking for a replacement once the circle goes away...As a Garmin owner for the past 5-7 years (This is the 2nd Garmin watch...replacing a beat up Vivo3??)  I am a little hesitant to purchase another and will wait to hear the response.

Best,

Bill

  • the sensor protrudes very far out of the watch and presses on the skin. This, together with perspiration, creates an ideal environment for bacteria and fungi.

It helped me to wash the watch thoroughly every day. Sometimes with a cotton bud with alcohol.

  • Garmin-Tracy,

Pretty sure this will be the last Garmin purchased due to lack of response and response time from company.

in the past 40 years I have never had a regular/dumb watch issue like this nor did I have this issue with the 2 fitbits, nor the other 2 Garmins I have previously owned.

I take my watch off every night  as I don’t like  to wear a watch 24 / 7 to sleep.  I expected more of a response from Garmin than “it just happens” as seems to be the response to inquiries like mine above.

I have never experienced / heard it (burn? fungus? rash?) just happening to any other dumb watches… Casio / Seiko / Rolex /  nor other smart watches such as Apple / FitBit / exc.  Never received an offer to send in the watch for inspection, repair, nor replacement.

Definitely not wearing that Garmin watch again. and since I now need a new watch, why would I buy a Garmin?  I was on the verge of upgrading this year to a higher end model of the forerunner or splurging to an Enduro, Instinct, or Fenix 6/7…

Probably just go back to old faithful = Casio G-shock.

    Best,

    Bill K
