Watch logging incline on a flat course

I did a half marathon today on a flat course, my Garmin vivoactive 4s logged 168m climb but my friends watch said 0m..... What's going on?

  • Could it be the barometric pressure changed while you were running and the watch interpreted that as elevation change?
I live in the Netherlands which is dead flat and I observe the same thing.

  • No because I ran with a mate who also has a Garmin and his elevation was 0m.  Could be a vivoactive thing but it's don't it playing hockey on a level pitch as well. Might be my arm moving up and down?
