Skin irritation from back of watch

The back of the sensor area irritates my skin, I clean it, stopped wearing it for 8 weeks until it healed and have used clear varnish to seal it. Soon as I put it in it starts again. Everything I have read is about the strap and not the watch itself.

I don't want to spend on another watch for the same thing to happen, I feel stuck.

I had the same problem with a Vivoactive 3. Garmin support (great at the time - 2020) offered to replace it for a small up-charge to a new Vivoactive 4. I haven't had the rash problem with it or newer Garmin devices (although software is a mess). So ask for help, they might offer a replacement, depending on your country of residence and your luck.
